Marketing during coronavirus, use SEO to combat the virus

At a time of massive uncertainty surrounding the potential economic impacts of COVID-19 many businesses are already battening down the hatches. At Breakaway Digital we are already experiencing the effects of the postponed cycling calendar and many other sporting events that are being placed on hold for the foreseeable future due to the coronavirus.

With many of our clients canceling photography work as a result of the uncertainty to come it’s made us look into our own offerings in digital marketing to establish a plan of action that can both fill our time whilst we self isolate off/on the bike and generate new sources of income for the season ahead.

Oh if you do need some photography then feel free to get in touch as our calendar just got a lot less busy.

This is not a time for panic. Any knee-jerk reaction now will only set your business up for a long-term uphill struggle to recover, and remember, we will recover. For that reason it is critical that you maintain at least some level of marketing investment throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. (COVID-19) outbreak

We’ve often said SEO and digital marketing is much like that of getting a lorry upto speed. It’s initially slow but once moving it’s a sizable force and only gentle touches of the accelerator will keep it moving. However, you brake to let that cyclist stay safe from that pothole and you’ve now got to find the speed again to pass them before the road heads uphill and you’re left cursing them to the top.

You’ve already invested in growing your audience and customer base, acquiring instagram, twitter and various other followers. You’ve spent ages creating quality content that ranks on google so let’s just hold tight for a second.

You can count on the fact that others are going to panic and underestimate the impact of an emotional decision on their business strategy.

As their engagement drops, and they lose traction across various channels, you have the opportunity to breakaway and pip them at the line.

This is the time to keep that head looking up the road and not turn to glimpse the chasing pack, stay the course and tackle all of those potentially impactful SEO and marketing tasks you’ve had on your back burner.

Whether you’re working with an agency or handling marketing in-house, these are some tasks you can get your team working on while they self-isolate and work remotely.

Ways to self isolate and combat the effects of coronavirus on your business.

  1. Audit your digital presence, get those social accounts inline.
  2. Do that much needed housekeeping on your website, check those alt tags
  3. Write those blogs you’ve been meaning to, maybe update some internal links to new posts or pages.
  4. Streamline your processes, learn your system inside out so you’re more effective in your day to day tasks.
  5. Review your online strategy, plan ahead, plan for other scenarios.
  6. Opportunities – Businesses are going to be adapting to this new way of remote working.  Are you providing a product or service that can help them and their employees rise to this challenge

Don’t worry you not alone, we will be working over all these things ourselves so reach out, say hi and in true breakaway spirit, we can hope to survive the chasing bunch/virus.
